Behind Bars

The cold, gray walls trap you. Time crawls. Each day appears the last: a monotonous routine punctuated by meals and patrols. Communication with the outside world is limited. Hope becomes your constant accomplice. You scramble for meaning in this confined existence.

You try to maintain sanity. There are glimpses of humanity: a unexpectedly compassionate guard, a brief conversation with another cellmate, the seldom seen kindness of a friend. But these moments are fleeting, quickly swallowed by the brutal reality of serving your time.

The weight of your choices bears down you. Rehabilitation feel like distant, elusive dreams. You contemplate if you'll ever truly break free, not just from the bars, but from the mental prison that hold you within.

The Weight of Conviction and Consequence

A conviction is a potent thing. It can fuel actions, ignite passions, and guide us toward our goals. However, each conviction carries with it an inherent burden. Our convictions shape our choices, and those choices inevitably have consequences, both for ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes, the results of our convictions are positive, bringing growth. A crushing weight settles upon them/her/him, a suffocating blanket woven from the threads of unvoiced thoughts. If you think the construction can keep secrets, think again. Walls, including those other things, are often of hearing. Old legends warn individuals that walls have ears, and despite this may seem like a tale, the truth is quite alarming.

  • Even, walls themselves can hold the memories of past events.

So, be careful about what you reveal around walls. The Structure may be paying attention more than you think.

Innocence Lost's Burden
